Research topics from publications: Humanin rescues cultured rat cortical neurons from NMDA-induced toxicity through the alleviation of mitochondrial dysfunction; Individual‐specific metabolic network based on 18F‐FDG PET revealing multi‐level aberrant metabolisms in Parkinson's disease; Altered Brain Fraction Amplitude of Low Frequency Fluctuation at Resting State in Patients With Early Left and Right Bell’s Palsy: Do They Have Differences?; Differences in functional brain alterations driven by right or left facial nerve efferent dysfunction: Evidence from early Bell’s palsy; The reduction of volume and fiber bundle connections in the hippocampus of EGR3 transgenic schizophrenia rats. Representative work: -methyl-D-aspartate (NDMA) receptor-mediated excitotoxicity has been implicated in a variety of pathological situations such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease. However, no effective treatments for the same have been developed so far. Humanin (HN) is a 24-amino acid peptide originally cloned from the brain of patients with AD and it prevents stress-induced cell death in many cells/tissues. In our previous study, HN was found to effectively rescue rat cortical neurons. It is still not clear whether HN protects the neurons through the attenuation of mitochondrial dysfunction. In this study, excitatory toxicity was induced by NMDA, which binds the NMDA receptor in primarily cul Abstract Metabolic network analysis in Parkinson's disease (PD) based on 18 F‐FDG PET has revealed PD‐related metabolic patterns. However, alterations at the systemic metabolic network level and at the connection level between different brain regions still remain unknown. This study aimed to explore metabolic network alterations at multiple network levels among PD patients using an individual‐specific metabolic network (ISMN) approach. 18 F‐FDG‐PET images of patients with PD ( n = 34) and healthy subjects ( n = 47) were collected. Healthy subjects were further separated into reference group ( n = 28) and control group ( n = 19) randomly. Standardized uptake value normalized by lean body mass
