Professor Wim Oyen conducts research into the ways in which virulent diseases and infections can be diagnosed using slightly radioactive labelled substances. One of the most important imaging techniques is positron emission tomography (PET). Professor Oyen focuses in particular on combining PET with other techniques such as CT scans and MRI. In addition to diagnostic research, his group works on the development of new, radioactive labelled medicines to be used in the fight against cancer.
