Research topics from publications: Comparative Analyses of Chloroplast Genomes of Cucurbitaceae Species: Lights into Selective Pressures and Phylogenetic Relationships; Spatial Genetic Structure and Demographic History of the Dominant Forest Oak Quercus fabri Hance in Subtropical China. Representative work: Cucurbitaceae is the fourth most important economic plant family with creeping herbaceous species mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. Here, we described and compared the complete chloroplast genome sequences of ten representative species from Cucurbitaceae. The lengths of the ten complete chloroplast genomes ranged from 155,293 bp (C. sativus) to 158,844 bp (M. charantia), and they shared the most common genomic features. 618 repeats of three categories and 813 microsatellites were found. Sequence divergence analysis showed that the coding and IR regions were highly conserved. Three protein-coding genes (accD, clpP, and matK) were under selection and their coding proteins Oak trees ( Quercus L.) are important models for estimating abiotic impacts on the population structure and demography of long life span tree species. In this study, we generated genetic data for 17 nuclear microsatellite loci in 29 natural populations of Quercus fabri to estimate the population genetic structure. We also integrated approximate Bayesian computation (ABC) and ecological niche analysis to infer the population differentiation processes and demographic history of this oak species. The genetic analyses indicated two genetic clusters across the 29 populations collected, where most approximately corresponded to the intraspecific differentiation among populations from western and ea
