Biomimetic cancer cell membrane-based nanotechnology has provided a new approach for biomedicine to overcome these obstacles. Biomimetic nanoparticles exhibit various effects (e.g., homotypic targeting, prolonging drug circulation, regulating the immune system, and penetrating biological barriers) after encapsulation by cancer cell membranes. The sensitivity and specificity of diagnostic methods will also be improved by utilizing the prop INTRODUCTION: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common malignant cancer worldwide, but the chemotherapy drugs used in the treatment of HCC patients have limited efficacy and cause severe side effects. To improve HCC treatment outcomes, a cancer cell membrane (CCM)-coated biomimetic nanodelivery system was designed to achieve enhanced anti-HCC effects. METHODS: Poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) was used to carry both sorafenib, which is used to treat advanced HCC, and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs).
