Research topics from publications: Ni2P nanocrystals coated on carbon nanotubes as enhanced lightweight electromagnetic wave absorbers; Synthesis, size and magnetic properties of controllable MnFe2O4 nanoparticles with versatile surface functionalities; A novel Fe3C/graphitic carbon composite with electromagnetic wave absorption properties in the C-band; Hexagonal FeS nanosheets with high-energy (001) facets: Counter electrode materials superior to platinum for dye-sensitized solar cells; Single-step pyrolytic preparation of Mo2C/graphitic carbon nanocomposite as catalyst carrier for the direct liquid-feed fuel cells; Preparation and magnetic performance of the magnetic fluid stabilized by bi-surfactant; 3D NiCoP flowers assembled by 2D carbon-coated nanosheets as an efficient and stable positive electrode for supercapacitors. Representative work: Size controllable MnFe2O4 superparamagnetic nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by a solvothermal method using low-cost metal oleate as the source. The particle size, chemical composition and magnetic properties were investigated. The MnFe2O4 nanomaterials exhibit high colloidal stabilities and superparamagnetic properties, with an average particle size in the range of 2 to 10 nm by modifying the reaction condition, such as surfactant, reaction temperature and reaction time. By changing Mn(2+) to different cations, CoFe2O4, NiFe2O4, and ZnFe2O4 with different magnetic properties could be obtained. The hydrophobic MnFe2O4 NPs could also be modified with many surfactants, such as cetyltrimethyl A Fe3C/graphitic carbon (Fe3C/GC) composite has been synthesized by a facile route. It shows excellent electromagnetic absorption property in the microwave frequency range C-band (4–8 GHz), indicating its potential application in aerospace fields
