Research topics from publications: Single cannabidiol administration affects anxiety-, obsessive compulsive-, object memory-, and attention-like behaviors in mice in a sex and concentration dependent manner; Acute, Chronic, and Prenatal Exposure to Cannabidiol (CBD) Differentially Affects Anxiety and Successful Birthrate in Mice. Representative work: RATIONALE: The behavioral effects of cannabidiol (CBD) are understudied, but are important, given its therapeutic potential and widespread use as a natural supplement. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to test whether a single injection of CBD affected anxiety-like or attention-like behavior, or memory in wildtype mice or mice with reported trait anxiety due to a targeted gene-deletion in a voltage-dependent potassium channel, Kv1.3. METHODS: Wildtype C57BL/6 J and Kv1.3-/- mice of both sexes were reared to adulthood and then administered an intraperitoneal injection of 10 or 20 mg/kg CBD. Mice were behaviorally-phenotyped using the marble-burying test, the light-dark box (LDB), sho As the medicalization of marijuana occurs across the United States, the main non‐psychoactive component of the marijuana, cannabidiol (CBD), has gained recognition. Given that anxiety is the most common type of mental illness in the United States, our objective was to access the therapeutic potential of CBD administration. We hypothesized that CBD could mitigate anxiety for chronic but not acute treatments in mice and would not have long‐term behavioral consequences when administered perinatally. Our methods employed 3‐mo. Kv1.3‐/‐ (KO) anxiety prone mice, or wildtype (WT) mice that were treated either acutely (daily for 1 wk), chronically (18 doses over 1 mo.), or throughout gestation and l
