Research topics from publications: Simvastatin inhibits the adipogenesis of bone marrow‑derived mesenchymal stem cells through the downregulation of chemerin/CMKLR1 signaling; Incidence and risk factors of proximal junctional kyphosis in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis after correction surgery: a meta-analysis and systematic review; Machine learning algorithm predicts fibrosis-related blood diagnosis markers of intervertebral disc degeneration; GREM1, LRPPRC and SLC39A4 as potential biomarkers of intervertebral disc degeneration: a bioinformatics analysis based on multiple microarray and single-cell sequencing data. Representative work: Simvastatin is effective in the treatment of osteoporosis, partly through the inhibition of the adipogenesis of bone‑marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). The present study focused on the mechanisms responsible for the inhibitory effects of simvastatin on adipogenesis and examined the effects of simvastatin on the expression of peroxisome proliferator‑activated receptor γ (PPARγ), chemerin, chemokine‑like receptor 1 (CMKLR1), G protein‑coupled receptor 1 (GPR1) and the adipocyte marker gene, adiponectin. BMSCs were isolated from 4‑week‑old female Sprague‑Dawley (SD) rats, and adipogenesis was measured by the absorbance values at 490 nm of Oil Red O dye. The expression of each gene w AIM: To analyze the risk factors of proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) after correction surgery in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). METHODS: PubMed, Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, and EMCC databases were searched for retrospective studies utilizing all AIS patients with PJK after corrective surgery to collect preoperative, postoperative, and follow-up imaging parameters, including thoracic kyphosis (TK), lumbar lordosis (LL), proximal junctional angle (PJA), the sagittal vertical axis (SVA), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT), pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis (PI-LL), sacral slope (SS), rod contour angle (RCA) and upper instrumented vertebra
